Two groups for CECAFA 2017 tourney

 The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations [CECAFA] has placed the ten teams to participate in the tourney into two groups of five teams  where two highest teams from each  group will proceed to the semi-finals .

After the draw was conducted, Zimbabwe which only won the CECAFA Cup in 1985  is in Group B alongside Uganda, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Burundi. Group A consists of hosts Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Libya and Zanzibar. Zimbabwe’s first game will be against Uganda on 4 December.

The first match of the tournament pits Libya against Tanzania at 2 pm on the 3rd of December then Kenya clash with Rwanda at 4 pm.

The Warriors’ matches against South Sudan, Burundi, and Ethiopia will be played on the 6th, 8th and 12th of December respectively, however Zimbabwe’s second match against South Sudan which will be played at 2pm whilst  all other three games will be played at 4pm.

Actual match venues are yet to be advised but all matches will be played either  in  Kakamega, Kisumu or Nakuru.

Kakagema is a  town in western Kenya;  Kisumu is a a Kenyan port city on Lake Victoria; Nakuru is the capital city of Nakuru County, which is located in the northwest of Nairobi.

Warriors would be confident after lifting the COSAFA Cup in July.

The Zimbabwe Football Association recently assigned Sunday Chidzambwa as the senior team coach for the CECAFA games set to be played from 3 to 17 December.
