Replay of the abandoned match between Dynamos FC pitting Chapungu FC has been met with mixed reactions in the large section of the Zimbabwe football fans amid thoughts that Chapungu FC should have accepted the defeat.
Fans from all walks of life in an interview with Sport Way had different opinions with regard to the replay.”It’s fair for PSL to have the abandoned match replayed at 56th minutes of play.Nobody want to loose so no one should be given the 3 points easily”, said a newspaper reader buying a newspaper at Machipisa Shopping Center on condition of anonymity.
The match was abandoned in the 56th minute of play after a goal post collapsed after a strong shot ball hit it.Dynamos FC was leading 4-0 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.
Dynamos FC acquiescently agreed in fear of a walkover although it will be costly for them to travel to Gweru again. It will be Achilles’s heels for the air- force side that would be trailing behind 4-0 to close the gap in less than 40 minutes.
“The replay is professional but as one can see, Chapungu will not win and by themselves they know that they don’t hope to win the match””, said an ardent soccer love.Clayton Matenga an assistant tailor with Hwedza Material at Machipisa Shopping Center also concurred in welcoming the PSL move as diplomatic.”I support Dynamos FC and I believe that it is the only way we can have the 3 points”, he said without mincing his words.
Time will tell whether Dynamos affectionately known as “Chazunguza”, will shake the Ascot goal posts gain in the replay.
