The 1st edition  of the inaugural JM Busha  54 races ended on a  high note at National Sports Stadium as the nation was marking the 54th anniversary of Africa Day.

ZRP Fairbrigde athlete Trust Chidomaya was honored to win in two races,  the 5 km race and the 10 km race.He clocked 28.07.53 in the  10 km race and 41.46.83 in the 5 km race.”Fatigue in the last 5 km race made me clock more  minutes in the 5 km  race.I can not say am a champion but its only that I am in form”, he said.

Trust Chidomaya won the Coca cola 4 minute mile at ZITF and the inter provincial track field earlier this year.”The success in  this race was as a result of the inspiration I got when I won the previous races”, he revealed.

JM Busha 54 Races chairperson Misheck Gondo  said the event was a success as planned.”It was a great opportunity to have the track and field and marathon events on the same day.Besides the athletes  having big money prizes , it gave them exposure for the Olympic games”, he said.

He revealed that the regional competition for 54 African countries  to be held later this year will have the 1st finalist walking away with $25 000.”Next year we will try to reach more athletes in the remote areas”, he said.

The event was participated by veteran athletes like Gilbert Mutandiro, Olivia Chitate Blessing Wilson to mention but a few.
