
Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival Day 4 pencilled for the primary schools lived up to its expectations as Highlands Primary School the defending champions repeated the same feat.
Highlands smashed the spirited Admiral Tait 19 – 10 in a thrilling match that showed vision amongst the juniors.Admiral Tait had a scintillating performance in the first half as Highlands narrowly edged them 12- 10. Admiral Tait star player was injured in the first half.
The second half was not rosy for Admiral Tait as the referee ordered their injured star player to be substituted as he feared the boy may get worse.The coach had brought him back in the 2nd half but with 5 minutes of play the referee thought otherwise.It was Admiral Tait ‘s first appearance at the festival.
Blakiston clashed against ZRP Braeside for the 3rd position which was clinched by the former.
Highlands coach Passion Kanyemba attributed their success to teamwork.Admiral Tait coach was fuming after the match that they had been deceived as the referee underrated him.”When I tried to complain when they ordered our star player to be substituted, the match officials instead of listening to my views they just shoved me off the touchline”, he said.
