The adage catch them young can be depicted by Vainona Girls High rugby captain prowess,   as she  started playing rugby at a tender age in Grade 7.

Milanda Tinarwo captains Vainona Girls High after having made stints at Mbare Academy.”My friend asked me to go to their training at Mbare Academy when I was in Grade 7.My mom allowed me to join the rugby academy “, she revealed.

Vainona won 44-0 against Roosevelt and then draw nill all against Goromonzi at 2017 Dairibord schools rugby festival Day 1 and Day 2 respectively.”The game against Goromonzi was not easy because our opponents had huge structures as compared to our team  which  have many who are slim”, she said.She squashed rumours that they cheat to win their games.

“Many people thing w e cheat to win our games but its only that the team has the spirit of sport at heart”, revealed the captain who like to wear jersey number 2 or 8. Her future prospects are to study up to University level and then pay back to the rugby community by having a rugby academy.Her role model is Tendai “Beast”Mtawarira.

On her role as the team captain she said she has to be kind and understanding for morale boost.”As a captain, you have to be nice to other players for them to follow your orders.Chiding someone can make someone hate you and loose interest of the game”, she said in an interview with SportWay.
