
Dairibord schools rugby festival 2017 Day 1 was a marvel to watch as St Johns 2nd outclassed Prince Edward 2nd.
St Johns coach Scot Grey admitted that it was a big challenge as they had not defeated their opponents in the past. “It was a tough match as Prince Edward were very physically good”, said Scott Grey.St Johns 2nd won 12-7.
St Johns went on half time leading 12-0 from tries by Ryan Smith and Tanaka Mpofu.Mufaro Chareka managed a conversion.Prince Edward played well but did not manage to utilise their line formation technique. Prince. Edward almost had a try in the 2nd Half but their winger had stepped the outside line whilst running.
The match was dampened few minutes before full time when a Prince Edward player was carried out on stretcher.
In the morning at the Jubilee field, Glen view Royal College thrashed George Stark 22-7.
Royal College coach Raymond Nyatikombe was impressed by the outcome.”Since we came for the festival whilst it was Cottco. We have lost only one game.We lost against Mufakose 1 High in 2013”, he said.
Ray Nyatikombe is a product of the schools rugby festival as he turned up for Churchill High in 2005 and 2006.
