2017 Dairibord schools rugby Day 2 had a lot of fireworks as foreign teams participated well in the festival.
Although Livingstone Kolobag College (LKC) of Botswana lost to St George’s, the match was interesting as both teams used different tactics to outwit their opponents.LKC side was muscular but St George’s had speed in their attacks and had to be tactful in order to prevent contact with the strong LKC guys.
St George’s went to half time having won 31- 0.Mauling and rucking in forward play by LKC earned them a try and conversion in the 2nd half to make the scoreline 31-7.LKC had good hits in the 2nd half that powered them to 14 points.St George’s made it 36-7 before KLC muscled again past St George’s to make the scoreline 36-14.
LKC coach was happy with the results.”We were afraid, stage fright gripped my boys.Rugby is not big in Botswana but it’s growing.Coach Taku Mhonda also lauded the festival.”The festival is good for exposure and development of guys.Last year we came with the Under 16 team only and today they beat Gateway 33-7″, he said.”We are looking forward to our game against Prince Edward on Thursday”, he added.
