
Warriors’ preparation for the AFCON Gabon should be well utilized as the international players would be on the festive season, so there would be much time for the players to click.
If the expected friendly matches lined up for the Warriors materialize, Coach Pasuwa would use the international festive break to have a good bond for the national team, sports analysts have revealed.
Unlike other previous appearances where the Warriors team selection gave a headache as the international players were on duty mainly from South Africa. This time around, players would be chosen according to their performance in the training camp.
The Warriors will troop into camp on the 22 December for the preparations of the 2017 AFCON Gabon with three friendly matches on cards. The senior men team is penciled to meet highly rated Coted’Ivoire in Abidjan on December 26. Coted’Ivoire is 916 km from Gabon making it easier for the Warriors to understand the climate of the hosts. The Zimbabwean team is in Group B with Algeria, Senegal and Tunisia.
Warriors will also meet Egypt in Alexandra between 3-5 January. Egypt is a soccer powerhouse in Africa. The training camp will be wrapped up in Cameroon on 10 January. The Yaoundé match has been confirmed by ZIFA president Dr Chiyangwa whilst the other ones are still under deliberations.
If the Coach tasks all to be in camp and play the friendlies, Zimbabwe will not be an easy walk on the road at the 2017 AFCON Gabon.
