Takashinga cricket club will take part in a Quadrangular cricket series in November in Uganda as Uganda prepares for the ICC World Cricket league Division 3, that will take place early next year.

The High field based cricket club   has been offered an opportunity to travel to Uganda in a series that will involve them, Kenya and two sides from Uganda, which  will be Uganda select and Uganda x1. The series will run from 19th to 26th November.

Takashinga cricket club coach Eric Chauluka was elated by the invite to Uganda. “The tournament is a privilege to the guys who have been doing well in the local league. It is a reward and it is not helping Takashinga only  but the country as a whole because if the guys do well, the national selectors will be keen on that as well”, he said.

It is the second time Takashinga has been called to Uganda. He also added that the series will be a good platform for his guys as they are only used to play in Zimbabwe and the series in Uganda will showcase what they can do away from Zimbabwe.

Takashinga cricket club finished 2nd and 3rd in the 2015/2016 Vine cup out of 13 teams as they field two teams. This year’s league games started last week. The team to travel to Uganda will comprise of junior and senior players. Players will be picked form those that did well in the local league, in the Vine cup, in the Zim A and national squad.

Takashinga started in 1990 and at the moment has produced 4 national captain, Tatenda Taibu, Prosper Utseya, Elton Chigumbura, and Hamilton Masakadza

The cricket club survives on donations from guys who will be working and subscriptions.
