Bantu Rovers Under 18 off to US

Under  18 Bantu Rovers’ midfielder Marvin Sibanda left the country Friday  on a football scholarship to Taft school in the United States.

According to Bantu Rovers website, Sibanda a regular in the under- 18 side left the country with compatriots Percival Sibanda and Mthabisi Tshuma who were on holiday.

Marvin was part of the team that includes captain Shadreck Nyahwa, Blessed Mabwe, Kudzaishe Dzingwe, Phindu Moyo, Nkosiphile Dube, Thabo Lunga and Tyson Ndebele.

He had found favor with senior team coach Johannes Ngodzo and featured in the team a number of times.

Marvin scored crucial goals for the under-18s with his last goal being against EM Sport at Nguboyenja on August 6.

Bantu drew 2-2 in that encounter.

The Under 18s  play How Mine this weekend at Barbour fields Stadium .

Bantu Rovers are sitting on the pole position in Southern region Division One with 4 points ahead of Amagagasi who have 2 games in hand.

Bantu Rovers was formed in 2008 as a professional soccer club by Mathembe Ndlovu. The club competed in the Zimbabwean Premiers Soccer League (PSL) in 2009 and 2010 finishing 9th and 14th respectively.After the 2012 season, Bantu was relegated to the Southern Region Division One where they finished 4th in 2011.

In 2012, their U-18s became the first African country team in twenty years to obtain visa to visit the US and compete in the prestigious Dallas Cup finishing in the top 4 of 28 teams in the U-19 division.The club finished 2nd in 2012 and 3rd in 2013 before acquiring a PSL franchise in 2014.It was again relegated to Division One where they finished 5th in 2015
