It has become a norm in Zimbabwe that a coach who loses after supporters‘s great expectations should be relieved of his duties. Coaches bear the brunt of as team‘s lose even if he has been on a winning streak. Fans have now taken the administration of their teams which is not fair.
“Supporters should know that if a team is beaten it is not coach’s problem. A team can not win all the 30 games in a league. Even in Europe teams are beaten but can lift the league. Supporters should have patience with their coaches. In 2008 Monomotapa was beaten their first four games under Norman Mapeza but took the league title that year”, said Edward Makuzva a sports journalist.
“Hiring and firing of coaches does not solve the [problem but can also worsen the situation. When a coach comes, he has his own players and new strategy which can make the team be beaten”, he said.
Caps are on 3rd position so far and in top four so there is no treason for Chitembwe to be booted out. Looking at Sunday’s game strikers Simba Nhivi and Dominic Chungwa wasted chances by firing blanks and the coach can not be accountable for that”, he said.
Caps United has tricky encounters as the will face high riding FC Platinum and Highlanders in their next game so changing a coach can make them fall.
