
Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival has made a resounding mark in this year’s edition by having more girls’ rugby teams as compared to the past editions depicting a rise of the sport in communities.

Royal College head coach, Getrude Masora saw an improvement in the participation of the girls at the Festival.”We have much improved from last year. We are quite privileged more girls teams than last year”, she said.Her girls team this year won the Allan Wilson tournament and the Goromonzi tournament.
Thandeka Ncube who plays for Amhlope High School was also left elated although their team lost to Roosevelt.”We played well but lost because our team constitutes of new comers. Only five players from our previous teams are left”, she said.
Melody Katawa of Tafara 1 High School who was voted lady of the match in game against Mount Pleasant said she had much love of the sport.”I chose to play rugby from other sports at school because rugby is very entertaining.”The 16 year old said it’s her 3rd time to appear for her school at the Festival.
