Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival has the anti –doping campaign at center stage as Zimbabwe Olympic Committee is holding lectures on Anti- doping education and awareness with morning and afternoon sessions at Prince Edward High School.

Mr Stephen Mudawarima, an Anti- doping education and awareness officer said students were flocking at their stand in numbers.”The encouraging thing is that some students from last year too still remember what we told them whilst the new ones are eager to learn”, he said. At their stand, students participate in a quiz online and if they manage high score they win t-shirts, caps and bottle drinks.
Mr Mudawarima said,”We hope the education curriculum should also include anti-doping lessons even from Early Child Education (ECD)”.He also said it was very paramount for students to be aware of the prohibited substances and their consequences. He commended sports person for taking heed of anti-doping campaigns.”There looks like there is awareness as few athletes have been banned because of doping in Zimbabwe”, he said.
They choose the schools rugby Festival because rugby is a sport where doping is extreme as national U20 at one time where banned for doping whilst in soccer Devon Chafa was also banned from participating.
Ngobisile Ncube of Falcon, who was nominated the man of the match in the match between Kyle against Falcon also, lamented the use of drugs.”Cheat will never succeed and I advise athletes to play a clean game with no drugs”, he said. Ngobisile played for the Prince Edward‘s Tigers for two years before changing floors by joining Falcon College.
He rated their match against Kyle as a competitive match although they won. He also advised youngster to take sport seriously.”My advice to youngsters is to work hard and put God first.
