Callisto Pasuwa is on the verge of leading the Warriors to the Afcon 2017 tournament in Gabon in the Group L qualifiers after dismantling Swaziland 4-0 at home with three points in deficit and an easy assignment against the Flames at home and an away game against Guinea.
Knowledge Musona’s 52nd penalty broke the deadlocked after a goalless first half. The penalty was classic as the Swaziland goalkeeper dived before the Zimbabwean strike had shot the ball.Industriuos defender Costa Nhamoinesu headed a goal in the 59th minute give Zimbabwe a 2-0 lead. Swaziland looked tired, dejected and without formation as the Warriors went on hunting for goals.
Substitute Evans Rusike proved he was a super sub when he fought vigorously for a goal in the 65th minute. Also Khama Billiart who came as a substitute not wanting to be outdone curved an immaculate goal far post to wrap up the 4-0 win.
A scintillating performance by the Warriors has seen their gaffer on the pole position of the Afcon qualifier log and has an easy game to match to the Afcon tourney. Callisto Pasuwa whose highest ranking in the World was achieved on 3 March 2014 when he led the local based squad to the semi finals of the Chan tourney. He was ranked 631.
The Warriors has qualified twice in the Afcon tourney and were booted in the first round both in 2004 and 2006.
